On 12 Oct 2002, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay opened its doors to welcome the first patrons and visitors to what has been an extraordinary journey steeped in meaning and significance.

Commemorating this milestone in 2012, we held a year-long celebration sharing how the arts celebrate life, through highlighting key values in our festivals.

For the anniversary weekend from 11–14 Oct 2012, we sought to do something that would inspire us for the future. So at a time when there is renewed interest in who we are and where we came from, and a confidence in what we should be, our birthday would be a timely occasion to celebrate the arts and artists in Singapore.

From paying tribute to those that have built our arts scene, to inviting artists to share their moving journeys, this special weekend comprised new productions that had been commissioned just for you.

The weekend was Dedicated to You—the people who have dedicated their lives to the arts in Singapore and the audiences with whom we have journeyed over these 10 years.

Thank you for a wonderful decade of inspiration, growth and support.
